Wise Word, 5/25/2022

Principal’s Message:

Hello Golden Owls,

Words cannot begin to express the overwhelming sadness that fills me thinking about the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Unfortunately, mass shootings like this are a frequent part of our news cycle, and I want to emphasize a resource that Dr. Rudolph shared last night. Talking to Children About Violence (NASP) (Spanish). While we don’t want to necessarily draw attention and overfocus on these events, we do want to allow our students space to express their feelings and emotions, and also reassure them of their safety.

A few weeks ago, our students experienced a shelter-in-place because there was a possibility of something unsafe in their neighborhood. Our staff and families followed our procedures and protocols to keep us all safe. I want to take this time to remind you that we will do everything in our power to make sure your students are safe.

Again, I know this can be a scary time for us all, but we will persevere together.

In Partnership,

Principal Vern Taylor
